Frequently Asked Questions

What does each of the standards mean?

ISO 9001 - Quality Management Standard
ISO 14001:2015 - Environment Management System
ISO 45001 - Occupational Health and Safety Standard

What can I expect from the certification process?

The certification process may sound daunting, but it is far more straightforward than you might think. Read our guide to Certification Process for more information on what to expect.

Will you do everything for us?

We will be in touch with you throughout the process, but it is important for you to run the project. As the certifier, we will confirm on behalf of ISO that your business conforms to the particular standard and issue your certificate.

Will I need to make lots of changes to get ISO certified?

You should not need to. Most organisations are already following best practices, so the process of ISO certification is often simply acknowledging that, or making small adjustments to what you're already doing.

How long will it take to become certified?

ISO certification is not a single event, but rather an ongoing process that ensures your business complies with the requirements of its chosen standard.
Initial certification depends on how many ISO standards you are trying to achieve and the setup of your organisation. But, on average, it takes our clients approximately three to six months to get certified.
Following certification, there is a process for continual improvement and recertification. Find out more about the three-year certification cycle.

Do we have to appoint a Quality Manager?

Quality Managers aim to ensure that the product or service an organisation provides is fit for purpose this includes legal compliance and customer expectations.
You won't need to appoint a Quality Manager. However, we recommend that but you select a designated representative or coordinator who will take responsibility in your organisation for achieving certification.

What is the difference between an accredited and unaccredited certifier?

Accredited certifiers are subject to rigorous evaluations of their competence, methodology, and quality standards before they are allowed to certify.
Many companies find unaccredited certification sufficient for their needs. But organisations who want to see your ISO credentials are increasingly interested in who provided the certification. By using an accredited certifier, such as ourselves, you can be sure that your certification will be performed properly, and reassure your clients that your company complies with the most rigorous standards.
